Originally Sakhalin taimen carried the name Salmo perryi Brevoort, 1856. Then has been renamed into Salmo blackistoni Hilgendorf, 1876. The outstanding Russian scientist-Encyclopaedist Lev Semyonovich Berg has restored the initial specific name given by Brevoort, but has carried it at first to the genus Salvelinus, and only in 1916 to the genus Hucho. Then Berg has specified the local name "chevitsa" which isn't used many years, but passes from one publication into another.
