The popular science publication from the series "Pearls of our Nature" was published in Khabarovsk. The authorship of the book belongs to the famous fish biologist Sergey F. Zolotukhin, this is already his 14th book.

Two species of taimens live in the Khabarovsk Territory: Ordinary (Siberian) and Sakhalin. These fish have not only economic, but also ethnic, cultural and scientific value. There are discussed factors threatening  taimens, measures  taken to protect species, issues of liability for  their illegal extraction, etc. The publication is aimed at specialists in the field of sports fishing, environmental protection, scientists in the use of aquatic biological resources, biological students, as well as a wide range of readers among various segments of people.
