A new article by Chinese geneticists has been published which presents the phylogeny of salmon fish based on the analysis of mitochondrial genomes. Once again it has been proven that the monotypic genus Parahucho is not the oldest salmon but separated much later by grayling, whitefish, lenoks and taimens of the genus Hucho. Nevertheless, the formed respect for the Sakhalin taimen continues to contribute to its preservation.
