At least four places on southern Sakhalin had names associated with the taimen. "Rivers rich in taimen" were called the river on Cape Lamanon, the Chirai river in the village Staromayachnoye of the Tomarinsky district,

the Chusovka river in the area of ​ ​ Sulfur Springs in the Kholmsky district and the Nerpichya river on the Terpeniya peninsula.
