In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a regional local history scientific and practical conference IX Ryzhkov Readings was held. One of the reports was devoted to the Sakhalin taimen. Sergei Makeev told "How the Sakhalin taimen was not noticed on Sakhalin."

Since 1805, when during the first round-the-world expedition a large copy of the taimen was called Kamchatka chinook salmon, all Russian officers, ethnographers and naturalists called this species "chevitsa."
