Skull of the Sakhalin taimen necessary for archeoichtyologists  to define its remains in shell’s  heaps at ancient settlements. Amateur Sakhalin archeologist Sergey Gorbunov contacted Evgenia Konstantinovna Sychevskaya, the Dr.Sci.Biol. famous on researches of ancient fish fauna of the USSR and Mongolia. In a rich collection of bones of different species of fishes lacked taimqn’s, and such notable production could not remain unaddressed ancient fishers.

The head of a large taimen (on available measurements and tables of measurements on the website, more than 1 m long) was transferred by unknown, then cooked and sorted on stones. This is hondroctanium.

Bones of a skull spread out for comparison with the drawing to p. 46 of the monograph of Mikhail Konstantinovich Glubokovsky "Evolutionary biology of salmons" (1995). Unfortunately, the smallest bone – copulae was somehow lost.

Now we will send to Sychevskaya the parcel and we will wait for results of researches.
